Personalized Ergonomics

Learning correct body usage can reduce on-the-job injuries. When a task is done with excessive effort or misalignment, joints and tissue suffer slight damage. When repeated over time, this damage accumulates. Joints can deteriorate and tension can build to the extent that a simple task-picking up a piece of paper or getting out of the car-can suddenly cause a debilitating injury. Balanced use of the body helps prevent this process of accumulating tension.
Personalized ergonomics allows employees to recognize habit patterns that may create pain and discomfort, and provides the tools for change through the use of Aston-Patterning® principles.
Employees will be coached on the most efficient and least stressful way to perform activities such as sitting at a desk, using a computer, reaching, lifting and sitting through all-day meetings. Employees will understand how the relationship between the environment and their unique movement habits has played a role in creating their distress. They will learn new stress-free ways of working-of finding the balance between themselves and the workplace.

In this position this person is creating undue stress on his lower back and shoulder joint. A person trained in the Aston® way of standing will align the body properly by shifting their weight forward.
